Health Insurance FAQs
I am supposed to receive a subsidy on my health insurance, but when I view my cart to check out, I don’t see the subsidy. Am I still getting my subsidy?
Your discount will not be reflected in your cart when you check out. However, when your application is submitted and approved, you will see your discount applied.
What family size do I use on my health insurance application?
Use the number of people of you claim on your income taxes.
What income do I enter on the application?
We are trying to estimate what your taxable income will be for the year that you want coverage for. For example, if you expect to make $50,000 this year as an employee / W-2 worker, then enter $50,000 as your income for the year.
If you’re self-employed, use your expected adjusted gross income (AGI) for the year you wish to be insured.
For example, if you make $100K as a self-employed/1099 contractor, but your business expenses are $40K, then you would only count $60K as your AGI.
What income should I include?
You should include all taxable income. This includes things like wages, unemployment payments, etc.
Can I enroll anytime of the year?
If it is not currently open enrollment, you need a qualifying event, meaning some event must have happened in the past 60 days to allow you to qualify to enroll in an insurance plan outside of the open enrollment period. This includes things like loss of coverage due to job loss. There are also other reasons you can be approved for coverage outside of the open enrollment period.
If you have recently lost coverage within the past 60 days, you should specify that you have lost coverage on your insurance application.
What if I don’t qualify for a subsidy or want an ACA health plan. Do you offer health sharing ministry plans?
Yes. Please contact us for additional information, pricing, and plan options.
What if I want off-exchange health insurance that is not part of Covered California? Is this available to me?
Yes. Contact one of our agents to enroll in an off-exchange health insurance plan.
Do I qualify for free or subsidized health insurance?

Supplemental Insurance FAQs
If I have a Covered California health insurance plan, why do I still need supplemental health insurance?
All Covered California Health plans have out-of-pocket costs that won’t be covered by insurance. Even if you stay within your network, you could be responsible for up to $7,800 as an individual or $15,600 as a family if you are hurt or sick. These numbers almost triple if you go outside of your health plans network!
Supplemental insurance provides a very important extra layer of financial protection when you face accidental injury, hospitalization, cancer, or catastrophic illness, so you can focus on what really matters.
